Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how we use cookies and similar technologies on onestopcrypto.co.za. It should be read with our Privacy & Cookies Policy and Terms of Service.
We follow POPIA and, for visitors from the EEA/UK, the ePrivacy/GDPR rules. We only use essential cookies without consent. Any non-essential cookies (analytics, marketing) require your opt-in.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They can be "session" (deleted when you close the browser) or "persistent" (stored for a set period). We also mention related technologies (local storage, pixels, SDKs) collectively as "cookies".
2. What we use cookies for
- Essential / strictly necessary – to keep the site secure and working (e.g., remembering your cookie choices, routing, rate-limiting). Legal basis: legitimate interests / performance of the service.
- Preferences – optional settings like theme/dark mode (if you enable it). Legal basis: consent.
- Analytics – only if you opt-in. We prefer privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (e.g., Plausible). If we add any cookie-based analytics or pixels in future, we'll ask first. Legal basis: consent.
- Marketing/ads – not used.
3. Cookies currently set
We keep this minimal. Exact names may change slightly as we iterate.
| Category | Cookie / Storage | Purpose | Provider | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | osc_cookie_consent | Stores your consent choices so we don't prompt again every visit. | OneStop Crypto | 6 months |
| Essential | __host-route (or similar) | Load-balancing/routing to keep pages fast and stable. | Vercel | Session |
| Preference (optional) | osc_theme | Remembers light/dark mode if you toggle it. | OneStop Crypto | 6 months |
| Analytics (only if enabled) | (none by default) | We use Plausible in a cookieless mode by default. If you opt-out, Plausible may set plausible_ignore=1 so your choice persists. | Plausible | Up to 1 year (opt-out cookie only) |
No advertising cookies. If we later add tools like Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or Hotjar, we'll list them here and ask for consent in the banner before they load.
4. Managing your cookies
- Cookie banner / Preferences: Use the "Cookie settings" link in our footer to change or withdraw consent at any time.
- Browser controls: You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings (steps differ by browser). Blocking essential cookies may break parts of the site.
- Do Not Track: We respect browser-level privacy choices where feasible, but behaviour varies by browser and tool; use our Cookie settings for reliable control.
5. Third-party services
Some features rely on third parties: hosting/CDN (Vercel), email (Microsoft 365; Resend for contact-form delivery), and optional analytics (Plausible). These services may process technical data (e.g., IP, user agent) to deliver the site securely and quickly. We do not allow third-party advertising cookies.
6. Changes to this policy
We'll update this page if we add or remove cookies or providers. The Effective date shows when the last change took effect. Material changes will also be highlighted in the banner or site notice.

Questions about cookies or privacy?
Privacy-First Approach: We use minimal tracking and favor privacy-friendly alternatives. We don't use invasive tracking technologies like fingerprinting or tracking pixels from ad networks.
